Position Description

As an Injury Nurse Coordinator, you will coordinate and manage the care of patients with injuries, ensuring their needs are met effectively and efficiently. As an integral part of our telephone-based health programs for our general insurance clients, you will play a crucial role in supporting injured people to get their life back after an injury at work or a motor vehicle accident. Your expertise and compassionate approach will make a real difference in patients’ lives.

As an Injured Nurse Coordinator, you will:

  • Demonstrate core nursing values of individual-centred care, trust and respect.
  • Take accountability for establishing and evaluating injured persons individualised care plans.
  • Collaborate with the injured person’s, carers, case managers and the healthcare team to provide guidance and support.
  • Promote effective communication and compassionate care in every interaction.

Experience/knowledge requirements:

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • A minimum of 3 years of practice as a registered nurse unless extensive experience can be demonstrated in a related position.

Personal competencies required:

  • Proven people and communications skills, including relationship building, cooperation, conflict resolution, influencing others and facilitating open discussion.
  • Broad clinical experience in a variety of settings and/or the ability and willingness to learn new skills and information quickly.
  • Patient centred focus, adaptability, respecting diversity, innovative thinking, application of evidence into practice and self-management.
  • An awareness of own values and beliefs surrounding healthcare with an ability to identify and respect an alternative view.
  • Awareness of knowledge limitations and comfort in seeking appropriate education and training.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in both written and verbal forms.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with the ability to prioritise multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
