Honeysuckle Health partners with St Lukes and Cardihab

30th June 2025

Honeysuckle Health has partnered with Tasmanian not-for-profit health insurer St Lukes and digital health provider Cardihab to expand access to clinically validated, home-based cardiac rehabilitation programs for Tasmanians.

This new initiative is part of St Lukes’ broader vision to make Tasmania the healthiest island on the planet and reinforces our shared commitment to improving health outcomes through innovation and accessible care.

Cardiac rehabilitation is a vital part of recovery following a cardiac event and plays a significant role in reducing the risk of future complications. However, participation rates remain low due to common barriers such as travel distance, time constraints, and individual health limitations.

Through this partnership, eligible St Lukes members can now access Cardihab’s digital cardiac rehabilitation program from the comfort of their own home, supported by personalised telehealth care delivered by Honeysuckle Health’s experienced clinical team.

Acting CEO of Honeysuckle Health, Misael Valdes Triana, said:

"We are delighted to partner with St Lukes Health and Cardihab to expand access to vital cardiac rehabilitation for their members across Tasmania. Our clinical team is looking forward to delivering personalised telehealth care via the Cardihab program, supporting members on their recovery journey after a cardiac event. Together, we are committed to helping more people achieve better health outcomes."

This partnership responds to a pressing health need in Tasmania. According to St Lukes, heart-related issues are the insurer’s largest claim area annually, and cardiovascular disease claims the lives of around 1,300 Tasmanians each year - 13% higher than the national average. Currently, less than 30% of eligible patients access traditional cardiac rehabilitation programs.

By offering an innovative, home-based solution that blends digital health technology with expert clinical support, we hope to overcome these barriers and ensure more Tasmanians can benefit from essential cardiac rehabilitation.

We see this partnership as an exciting opportunity to support recovery and prevent further cardiac events, while making healthcare more flexible and accessible to meet individual needs, no matter where people live.
